Removal of nitrogen, iron and manganese

Nitrates by their conversion to toxic nitrite can harm  adults and especially the children. The health hazard of nitrates (NO3-) arises from the possibility of their bacterial reduction in the human digestive tract to toxic nitrite (NO2-). In the case of so-called nitrate food dietary methemoglobinemia (DAM) of infants, nitrites react with the blood dye (hemoglobin) to methemoglobin that is unable to transfer oxygen.

Limit value: For infant water up to 15mg / l. and for adults it is up to 50 mg / l. By boiling the water, the nitrates will not be removed from the water.
