Removal of legionella

Legionella is a genus of pathogenic bacteria of the Legionellaceae family causing legionary disease or milder pontiac fever. Most infections are caused by Legionella pneumophila, which primarily affects the airways. Legionella is commonly found and multiplied in the deposits of warm water like pipelines, boilers and air conditioners. The infection occurs almost exclusively by inhalation of the infected aerosol into the lungs.

Legionella can commonly be found in the aquatic environment, in the soil, and in systems that use water for its function. They most often breed in air-conditioning and piping systems with insufficient water circulation, which allows the growth of biofilms.

The possibilities of legionella elimination are mainly thermal disinfection, chemical disinfection and disinfection with UV radiation.

Our company specializes on disinfection by UV rays. UV rays can be used for water disinfection devices which work with wavelenght in the range of 100-400 nm. UV rays destroy the DNA of the organisms in the water. This proces will deactivate the bacteria and their overal structure is impaired.

Benefits of UV filtration are no spare products as chlorine, water is not affected in any way and the installation is simple.
